Trading Yandle for Yakupov 1 for 1 would be a mistake by the Yotes.

expect Oiler fans in here to rage about not trading any players that are actually worth anything....they are going to get better through "magic"

Then there is the powerplay: OEL and Yandle already make up the best 1-2 punch in the NHL.

Do they? What about Carlson, Niskanen, Green ?

think MacT is having some regrets about his moves after seeing the early impact of Snow's trades?

OEL and Yandle together is a pretty dominating pairing on the powerplay.

I'd take them over the players you mentionned.

How about just no. If Edmonton is sending away Yakupov, it'll be for a very solid return, think of OEL.

It's already been discussed that trading away Yakupov (our second best player behind Hall this season) would be stupid. If anything Eberle would be the one available (which saddens me as I love Ebs).

Dont think your getting a proven commodity for an unproven one. But who knows - crazier things have happened.

Well, if you're talking about a pair, the pair would be Ovechkin - Carlson, with Niskanen - Green making up the second pair.

Interesting point, given the amount of PP points OEL has and has had versus the others..

If that's what Edmonton is expecting, they'll probably just stick to keeping Yakupov hoping he pans out.

No team would give up a superstar player like OEL for Yakupov at this point... russian factor and his average career beginnings would probably scare other GM's away.

Yotes or any other team will NOT trade away a young top 1/2 dman... They are the hardest to come by, let alone developing.

While I agree that OEL is out of the question unless its someone like Hall (which won't happen for either team), Yakupov is not off to the KHL for eff's sakes.

He's also turned his defensive game around quite nicely. Using his teammates to exit the D zone, playing in position, etc. It's actually quite amazing the turn around. He's very motivated and has brought back his edge. He and Hall have been the few bright spots this year.

As for your blog James, there is no way Yakupov/Michalek trade goes down. First clue is it's Eklunds rumour. Second is the Oilers have made it clear they won't trade 1st round picks (or former 1sts) for people on the down slope of their prime.

Now the Yandle package is intriguing but as I said in a previous post, Yak has been one of our better players.

He hasn't had players that he has had chemistry with in the past. Now, it looks like he has it with Draisaitl. I'm inclined to hang on to him and see where it goes.

Not true. Most want to see what Eberle or to a lesser extent Yakupov would bring back. A lot are even willing to use the 2015 first in order to stop the crap train that is the oilers.

Edmonton would have to tack on 2 1st just to entertain the Coyotes when it comes to OEL

If we get a Great 2/3C, then we can keep Draisaitl. If not, send Draisaitl to Juniors so he isn't exposed to the poop splatter.

Next year, Drayak will be solid gold

I'm not saying Yakupov will get us OEL, but that is what they are looking for. A top dman.

I'm perfectly fine throwing up at least one 1st rounder.

Yakupov would want out as soon as he touched ground in AZ. Too much of a diva for that.
